Hi

I will add the "Candy is Dandy" game of Ernest Fairchild at the caiman site
tomorrow.
But if you wish you can already find it at:
http://www.caiman.us/scripts/fw/f926.html
The original file http://www.screenpictures.com/spexe/candy.exe (1,81 MB) is an
install file
But I added a "no-install" zip file
http://www.caiman.be/scripts/fw/fload.asp?nr=926&f=http://www.caiman.us/fw/CandyisDandy.zip
(1,14 MB) at the site too, especially for you 😉
I downloaded the "no-install" version at my kids computer and the game runs fine
:)

LOL! They do that! CiD was based on a time-limited program my son
couldn't get enough of. He said, "Daddy, I bet you could write a better
program of this!"

A challenge! Aha!

So CiD was born.

But he really likes shoot-em-ups now. And I don't know how to do those.
LOL.

Have a great day!

Ernest

Hi Ernest,

Shoot em ups?
If you talking about 2D shoot em ups (and I suppose that you are a Delphi
programmer) then I should say: use the free Graphics32 components (1000
times faster than the Delphi ones). I used them in my games CaiBreak
(breakouts)
If you are talking about 3D FPS, then I can search for some sources codes
under 3D Blitz Basic or Gamemaker, but not under Delphi.

Cheers

I'll check it out. Thanks.

I downloaded a Delphi DirectX thing once that was supposed to make it
easy to learn DirectX. But the help was written like someone who knew a
foreign language and translated it into English on a very poor web
translation service, or was *very* bad at English. Ergo, it was
impossible to learn.

Have a great day!

Ernest

Have a great day!

The homepage of graphics32 ( www.g32.org/graphics32/ ) seems offline.
But you can get it at http://swiss.torry.net/graphicspacks.htm

Short description about the graphics32 components:
You got a TImage32, same as TImage, but much faster, can work with layers,
can do blending, etc, etc...

I got the Delphi DirectX (book+CDR) too, but I never read the book (I had
not the patience to do it) and I never installed the stuff.
I believe the developers are from Germany.

Have a great weekend!
Rudy
