no internet in laptop and ipad but internet works on phone

hi. i have a windows 7 laptop and an ipad. i cannot connect them to the internet except my phone.

i reset the modem and after that, the internet light disappeared. but i can access internet on my phone.

please help.

Do you know if you're using 3G or Wifi on your phone?
It's likely you're using 3G which is completely separate from the connection your laptop and iPad uses.

i used the wifi on my phone. it was working earlier just on my phone. now i cant connect to the wifi at all. but i can connect to the internet if i connected my laptop directly to the modem

By "directly" you mean using a cable?
Because that sounds like your modem might be dying.
My modem's wifi started acting up some time ago, until finally it didn't work at all.
Like me you'll probably just need a new modem.

But before you do that, did you try all the usual stuff like:
Turn the modem off and wait a couple of seconds then back on, re-plug all the cables and so on...
