no KDE2 font anti-aliasing with nvidia-drivers

i can't get the anti-aliasing working after i installed the nvidia-drivers. ok, it could be something else, but i suspect the nvidia.

selecting anti-aliasing in the font-selection doesn't do anything.

I think there's a couple of ways of doing AA. You can get the video card to do it if it's GF2 or better (see the nvidia read me), or do it in software through kde control panel settings.

Does KDE need any X extensions loaded to do AA?

I think KDE needs the Xft extension (but I could be wrong :). Make sure XFree86Config(-4) has the following:

Load "freetype"
Load "type1"
Load "xft"

in the Module section.
