No LAN, WiFi, USB drivers on my laptop and no optical drive

I have three laptops which needed to have Win7 Pro installed, not the preinstalled 10.
On one laptop I had put a folder on which contained all the necessary drivers and they were retained in a 'windows.old' image which was created during the install. No probs there as I could access the folder and find the missing drivers. However, I did the second laptop but had forgotten to put the drivers in a folder first. Now I have no internet drivers and worse the USB ports only recognise a mouse, not any USB storage devices.
There is no optical drive in the laptop, and regardless of BIOS settings and boot sequence, etc., the laptop will not recognise USB. I have even created a bootable USB flash drive which works in a PC and another laptop, but will not work on this wretched laptop. I have trawled through so many suggestions online, but they seem to always think that you have either an internal optical drive or working usb ports.

Solution
Check if your card reader works.

I had exactly the same problem with my new Lenovo laptop after installing Windows 7 Ultimate, but I noticed that it did recognize SD cards.
On my PC, I downloaded the drivers directly from their website to my SD card (they were .exe files, I searched by S/N to have the version for my laptop) and then introduced the SD card in the laptop's card reader and installed them that way.
