No longer able to switch to dedicated gpu

So after much searching I've decided to finally reach out for help.
I have a HP Envy 15 running windows 7 64bit that utilizes switchable graphics. The dedicated gpu is an amd 7690m.
Previous to my issue I was running factory drivers and everything was fine, I encountered a graphical glitch in a game and the only solution was to update to the latest driver.
After updating however my 7690m is now being recognised as 'AMD Radeon 6600M and 6700M Series' and I no longer have the ability to switch gpu's and as the game only recognises the integrated intel gpu, that's where the issue is.
I already have changed the BIOS settings from 'Dynamic' to 'Fixed' but that hasn't helped. If I open catalyst control centre I have no options at all, just plank panels.
I believe all of this has come from the fact that switchable graphics is inherently flawed and amd refuses to develop proper drivers, but if anyone knows of a stable driver that still allows for switchable graphics I would be most grateful.

Thank you for the prompt response. I made sure to create a system restore point before updating my drivers so I'll just go back to that in the meantime. I do need to find some form of usable updated driver though as the factory ones are crippling this game.
