Hello Everyone,

Hope you're having a good day. As the subject title reads I'm having an issue finding the motherboard manual on how to place the RAM sticks into which order if anyone has any suggestions that would be great! Tried google but I feel like I'm not looking in the right place. I am wanting to see if I can trade out the old ones for a new set but again I can't find the manual saying how to place them and if I can add more.

Specs:
Dell XPS 720
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
Max supported memory: 4 GB
DDR2 SDRAM 4GB
Corsair XMS2 4GB (2x 2GB sticks) (PC2 6400)- what I want to use for the upgrade.

Thanks, guys in advance!

Go to www.crucial.com , plug in your model number there, you will get a list of compatible configurations. Just changing RAM speeds for the same amount won't help you much.
Placing RAM into the system is really easy. You pop open the side cover, look for the long slots on the motherboard (usually 4 of them), find open slots and push the clips apart until they stop (you don't have to use much force, and slide your new RAM into the slots pushing gently but firmly until the clips automatically close and clip into place. If your RAM is in all the way and the clips haven't engaged, just push them into place. Give the RAM a little wiggle to make sure they are seated well and boot the system. RAM should only fit in one way. There are notches on the bottom of the RAM and a plastic tab in the slot that you line up to keep you from putting it in backwards.

If you need a visual guide check out YouTube for a RAM installation video.

Guess I wasn't asking the question right, I just wanted to see if there is a motherboard manual or the desktop manual to see the RAM compatibility list so I can make sure I'm getting the right RAM for the machine.

Have you tried the Dell website, and looking under 'support'?
