Hello all,

Recently due to some unfortunate interactions between my Microsoft Surface Pro 7 and a stone floor, I had to get the screen repaired, which was done by a third party repair service.

When I got the Surface Pro back, I noticed that although the screen reacted to touch, trying to use multiple touch points resulted in 0 input and although the pen (Surface Pen 2) was recognized and paired, I was unable to draw with it (buttons worked fine).

I noticed many users having similar issues to which I'll link below, however none of the suggestions resulted in any changes to the device's functionality.

Product details: Surface Pro 7, original screen: LP123WQ1 (LGD0555), screen replacement: according to Device Manager LGD0555, many drivers say that 'Device settings from ... were not migrated due to partial or ambiguous device match'. Intel Iris Plus Graphics driver further says 'Device PCI ... requires further installation'. Furthermore, I don't see a 'HID-compliant pen' driver under the HID list.

Attempts I made so far:
  • Reboot
  • Run Surface Diagnostic Toolkit (lmao)
  • Hard reboot (by pressing the power button for a set time)
  • Reinstall OS from scratch
  • Update OS
  • Update drivers from MS website
  • Uninstall / Reinstall HID-compliant touch screen driver
  • Uninstall / Reinstall and then update Intel Precise Touch Device driver
  • Uninstall / Reinstall and then update Intel Iris Plus Graphics driver

You might want to reach out to your service center and see if they used a genuine part for the panel replacement. I'd have sourced an exact panel replacement, like for like to avoid any compatibility issues.
