No Musketman.

Is available when I dicover Gunpowder and have Salpeter within my reach.
I always have that when I play as the Dutch.

Anyone experienced that ?

It's because The Netherlands UU, Swiss Mercenaries, nullify the
Musketmen part of the upgrade path for them. You'll jump straight from
Swiss Mercs to Riflemen.

Really, you're better off that way anyway. Swiss Mercs are 1-4-1 for a
cost of 30 shields and come in at Feudalism, Musketmen are 2-4-1 for a
cost of 60 shields.

I do wonder though, what if you get to gunpowder and have saltpeter, but
no access to iron? Would you be able to build musketmen in that
situation since Swiss Mercs would not be an option? I've never run into
that particular situation.

If Mark saves his game, he could pillage his own source(s) of iron
and find out for us.
