Hello,

I have a packard bell easy note TS11HR. Recently the hardrive failed and I decided to install an SSD and a new copy of windows 7. Everything went fine with the install I had no issues. The only problem is I'm missing a few drivers.

Network adapter, base system and I can't remember what the other one is called. My touch pad doesn't work either.

To resolve this I have tried a few things I've gone directly to Packard bells website and downloaded and installed the drivers from there, ive gone into task manager and tried to install the drivers, in control panel and devices an printers my laptop shows up with a yellow triangle I've troubleshooted and tried to install from there and also I've managed to install all the windows updates and the driver wasn't in there either.

I have managed to install the driver for the Ethernet port so I can connect to the internet. But I have to sit on the stairs which isn't ideal while on the laptop haha.

Has anyone got a solution for this?

Thanks in advance

While connected to the internet, go into device manager (NOT devices and printers) and right click on any items remarked with a symbol. Select update drivers then select update automatically. If any report no drivers were found, skip it and go to the next item. Sometimes one listed device won't install until another listed device has the correct drivers installed.

If any devices are still not working, you'll need to find and install them manually. I'll look for those as well.

Thank you for your response.

I've already tried going onto device manager and try to install them that way. I didnt know they were installed in a particular way though. I will get you a list of the drivers and get back to you when I get home.

I went directly to Packard bells website and chose my laptop (ts11hr) I downloaded the list of internet based drivers and installed one restarted if it did t work I installed another could that be the issue? A driver clash?

Thanks again

Try going into device manager again, while connected to the internet, right click on every device that's remarked by a symbol and select uninstall or remove device. Do NOT check the box next to "uninstall driver" if that option is there. Reboot and go back into device manager to see if windows has automatically installed them this time.

Do you happen to know what brand of Wi-Fi adapter your unit has? Apparently there are four that could be in that unit.

I will try that when I get home. What do i do if it doesn't come back?

Yeah, I now there were 4 or 5 differant drivers on Packard bells website so I just downloaded them all and hoped one would work. Is there software I could download so that I could tell you like speccy or somthing?

I've taken a picture of all the hardware that is missing a driver but I dunno how to upload it from a phone

Thanks again.

What is the full model number of the unit. There is more to it than TS11HR. There should be a - and then a few more characters after that. It should be printed on the case under the battery in the battery tray, or someplace else on the unit.

What operating system came with that unit originally as I'm seeing Windows 8 for most TS11HR models. If that's the case, it might be difficult to find Windows 7 drivers for it. Hardware manufacturers don't generally provide drivers for older operating systems and unless it was released with both 7 and 8 in some flavor or variety, they may not exist. Not all Windows 8 hardware drivers are compatible with Windows 7, although many of them are, so using the drivers meant for 8 may or may not work on 7.

To find out the model of your WLAN card, go to device manager, right-click on the WLAN adapter and select properties.
Click on the Details tab.
Under Properties, select Hardware_Ids.
You should see something resembling "PCI\Ven_xxxx&Dev_yyyy&....."

Write down or the VEN_xxxx&DEV_yyyy portion and Google it.
The results should show you which WLAN adapter you have installed in the system.

It's not going to tell you any accurate details of what's installed if the correct drivers are not installed. If the system knew what the hardware ID was it would already have found the matching driver package. At least in MOST cases. Now, IF the device already had the correct drivers installed but there was a separate issue with the hardware, THEN it would still report the correct identification data in system information or device manager.

hey guys sorry for the late reply I didn't get the notification email for a reply.

anyway, the laptop is a Packard bell Easy note TS11HR- 038UK and the model number, P5WS0.

it came pre- installed with windows 7 home premium 64bit. I've now installed a crucial m500 SSD 120GB and windows 7 home premium.

start> control panel> hardware and sound> devices and printers. my laptop shows with a yellow triangle so I troubleshooted it and its saying the drivers missing for the SM bus controller, network adapter, and two base system devices. im going to try and install them and then reboot the system see if that works.

thanks again.

I would suggest you start at the top and install ALL of those drivers. If you have an M.2 Wireless adapter it probably won't be able to install the drivers until the correct SATA and chipset drivers are installed. In fact, since Windows 7 driver support falls short of what we've grown accustomed to with Windows 8, it's probably a good idea to install all of the applicable drivers from the product driver page.

Yeah you have a good point. I'll probably jit install them all as support is running out.

I tried to uninstal the hardware and then reboot it didn't work the first time so I installed the windows updates hoping the driver was in there. After windows updates installed I uninstalled them again and rebooted bit that was also did not work.

I will install that list of drivers tonight after work and get back to you.

That ks agaoj.
