Hey,

I just installed Windows 8, but I can't connect to the network. I tried running the network troubleshooter which says there is no driver installed for the network adapter. Do I need to download one manually, and put it on a usb stick to install - or can I make Windows install some driver for it?

I thought Windows would install a working driver on its own?

In the device manager I see a yellow exclamation mark next to "Ethernet Controller" in "other devices". Should I try right click and click install driver for this one?

My motherboard is an Asus Maximus VI Hero with an Intel I217-V adapter.

I would appreciate your help, thanks :)

Hi

you need the motherboard driver CD (but it may not support Win 8)

Or go to Asus web site & download the correct Win 8 driver (x86 = 32bit) or x64 version

If there is only Win 7 driver it may work or find out from motherboard spec what chip the network port uses and get a generic driver from the network chip manufacturer
