Hi everyone,

For the last few months no new device I plug into my work works at all. The 4 Ive tried are 2 webcams, and 2 external hard drives. All have the drivers instlalled correctly and visible in the device manager, but dont work in any other way. The hard drives dont show up in the disk manager, and the webcams are not detected/usable in any program that I need them for.

I have no idea whats causing this issue or how to go about troubleshooting it.

Many thanks

Update your post to include full system hardware specs and OS.

Include PSU: make, model, wattage, age, condition.

What devices are you connecting? I expect all are USB but need to make certain that that is correct.

For the most part, external USB devices, especially hard drives need to have their own independent power supply versus relying on system/host computer USB port power.

You may need to have an independently powered USB hub to support those external devices.

PC [USB port]------>[USB in port] USB Hub [ USB out ports] ----> USB devices (2,3,4,....).

With a AC power connection from wall outlet to USB Hub.

Updated with hardware specs.

All devices are USB correct, both independant external drives have a single USB input, no external power supply. All the devices work well on my partners PC without issue, so it shouldnt be a power supply issue right?

Thanks for the quick reply :)
