I'm sorry but WTF is that!?

That's it as far as I'm concerned, if T3 has stupid glowing moving arrows
to tell you what your supposed to be doing next, well then you can kiss my
curvy ass goodby.

I can just imagine the goal. "You need to get Brumscrups cherished pillow"
- There it is look on the f'ing table, the thing that looks like a pillow.
But just in case some people might not complete this goal, WE'LL PUT A
F'ING GREAT ARROW OVER IT.

LOL. Indeed.

The screenshots don't look too hot either despite the fact you'll need
a beast of a machine to run the bast*rd game anyway! Did we *really*
need such a drastic overhaul of the game engine?

My guess is that they are trying to lure a new audience to the game. That
would mean new people that have never played it before will stand half a
chance at it. Maybe with any luck, they will have a feature to turn off the
"hints".

Think "XBox users".

I'm hoping there's a map like in Thief 2, but that dynamically shows your
current position. Unless, of course, you're lost. 🙂

Relax.

Null (nickname), one of the developers of Thief: DS said on the IonStorm
forums that the image with the arrow is taken from the training mission of
the game, not from the actual missions.

This is Brumscrups cherished *magic* pillow, with the special property
that he can never lose it, because of the F'ING GREAT ARROW OVER IT. The
big tactical problem for Garrett is that, once he puts the pillow in his
backpack, there will be a huge floating arrow pointing at him for the rest
of the level, thus making him an easy target for alert guards. This also
presents opportunities for misdirection, since Garrett will be able to
attach the pillow to unsuspecting guards.

Phew!

But to be honest, I don't think I'll be able to fully relax until I've got
my mits on T3 and it's all ok!
