Okay guys, I have a really annoying problem and I need help.
First of all, I have a Asus Z87-A Motherboard and a Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 SC 2GB. I am running a custom rig which I built last week and it has no problems at all apart from this:

My pc ONLY plays sound if I use a HDMI cable and put it into my tv, this is because I don't have any audio drivers on my pc apart from the nvdia hd audio driver which is for the gpu...So in that case, I can't use speakers unless I plug them into my tv, however I want to use rgb/dvi for the picture and the on-board audio for...the audio. You may be thinking, "why don't you just install audio drivers for your mobo?" well that's the problem, I CAN'T. I have go on ASUS' website and downloaded the realtek audio driver, I do the .exe installation and I am prompted to restart my computer. So I think ok, it has worked then. But nope. When I restart my computer no other audio drivers show up in the device manager only the 'Nvidia High Definition Audio'. The driver installation just doesn't work even though it says that it has installed. (unless i'm doing it wrong). I even tried using my motherboard installation CD and install the stock drivers but it still doesn't show up in device manager.

This is just really frustrating. Basically, I want to be able to use rgb/dvi for video and my headphones for audio (through on-board audio) but because I only have the nvidia audio driver, I'm forced to use a HDMI cable for both vidoe and audio.

morning to you...first off check in the asus bios under onboard devices that the sound card is turned on. then go to realteck web page and download the newest audio driver from them. with the newer video cards they install hdmi audio. when they do this becomes the main audio output in windows sound device manager. you have to go in and make realtech audio speakers the main output. if the realtech audio does not show up try installing the newest intel chipset drivers and the newest bios for the motherboard to rule out bios bug.

Disable the Nvidia driver. Right click, disable. Reboot.

What OS are you using, Windows 7?

Should be plug and play, I can't imagine it being a driver install. Right click on the driver package and try "Run As Administrator"

Right click on the speaker in the corner, go to "Playback Devices" and set the Realtek or Speakers as the default. Make sure you actually have speakers plugged in.
