Should i buy an i5-4690 or i7-4790k. i dont plan on overclocking but the 4790k has a higher clockspeed.

It depends on the workload. Will you using heavily threaded applications? if so then the i7 will serve you well. If you plan to do general computer stuff like browse the web, videos, documents, and games then the i5 will be just fine.

4690 has no hyperthreading

4790 does..... HT is very helpful for demanding multi threaded applications like video editing

I will be using it for heavy open world gaming such as gta and watchdogs. I will also be streaming movies once in a while and doing research and projects. I want to be able to play at high/ultra setting on a 1080p monitor. Which one would be better future proof. I dont want to buy an i5 and then have games use HT in the next few months and have to upgrade. Lol^ dude your parts are going to BURN up... Apevia cases look cool, but unfortunately they're terrible with thermals. I'd suggest a Corsair or Lian Li their build quality is great. If you're going to be gaming stay away from the I7 it'd be a huge waste stick with the I5 or the FX8350 like I mentioned before. I'm not sure if the 780 will be able to handle GTA V on ultra it may... I'd suggest you drop down to an I5 or Close loop the FX chip. With the money you save you could buy a Corsair air 540 and you're components would thank you for it. Hell you could cut down on a few things and just get a 780ti if you're into that...

As far as future games, I don't have a crystal ball as to what future games will or will not require. At this point in time, there's nothing to indicate a multitude of games will arrive running on 8 cores. It's strictly a budgetary decision. Yes, the i7 is a better gaming CPU then the i5, that's indisputable. You will see an extra 3 - 6% out of an i7 than an i5.....1) they are clocked higher and 2), they tend to overclock better.

Drop the sound card save $30 and invest $15 in a better case.

So with $15 left from the sound card + $48 from the GFX card...that's $63 .....add that to your MoBo budget and you can afford to upgrade to a Z97 MoBo.
