No online capability for Outbreak ?

Got told by a big chain store in New Zealand that we are only getting RE
Outbreak as a single-player game, with no online capability. Is this true?
Any NZ'ers still around on this newsgroup who can confirm/deny?

I'm not from New Zealand, but I have read that RE: Outbreak will be
online playable in the US, and Japan only. Wish I could tell you more.
