Dear Sirs, I have a PC with 2 optical drives with IDE connections.
The master one broke and I bought a new one (ASUS) that has SATA connection.
My OS XP SP3 doesn't detect it, but BIOS and Ubuntu do.
I downloaded drivers but nothing changed.

I have the same problem with a WD HDD 1 TB detected by BIOS and Ubuntu, but XP.

I hope that someone will be nice to give me a good idea to solve it.
thanks

Windows XP doesn't have SATA drivers by default. Find out which chipset your motherboard has, and download those chipset drivers. You want the drivers for the motherboard (chipset), not just the optical drive.
