i have a laptop with a gtx 1060 via hdmi, the laptop has intel HD graphics as well. via hdmi i have it hooked to a 7.1 surround sound reciever and am trying to configure 7.1 in windows. back with windows 7 i ran 5770's and 7970's that worked just fine and all options were there. however with this i right click windows sound manager to setup and all it displays is stereo.

thoughts on what im doing wrong?

Which laptop model?

It's possible Intel's graphics doesn't offer surround, not sure. Need to find out if we can force Nvidia's audio somehow.

There are no Nvidia options in playback devices?

Are you using a Tv from the amp for another display? Try set Tv only and not use laptop screen. See if setting it this way refers to the hdmi out only and offers more audio options hopefully. Don't see how this would work but worth a shot.

Trouble with laptops nowadays is discrete graphics cards run through Intel's graphics chip as a passthrough.
