No os and no hard drive found

Hello,
My hard drive recently died and I was in the process of re-installing windows vista. So, I went out and bought a new hard drive and installed it and tried to boot with my vista CD. Everything was going well until it came to where to store windows. There are no partitions to save the OS to. I've tried putting the CD-ROM for the hard drive but it wont let me do anything in terms of updating drivers or creating partitions. any ideas?? thanks for help

How is the drive configured in setup (F2) ? Sata / IDE ?

Native. It shows my master and slave as nothing and my sata ports 0-3 (4 total) all say not deteected
