I recently upgraded to a 6700XT. My CPU is 5600X.
I was sorting out a fan curve / monitoring GPU/temps etc for the 6700XT, when I noticed that when playing Starfield, my CPU temps were high 60/low 70 (sometime spiking to 78 - mainly when game was on a new loading screen).
I saw youtube vid which was talking about lowering 5600x temps, via PBO and CPB. I entered BIOS but there is no PBO listed that I can see. There was CPB, so I disabled that.

Temps now 20 degrees lower in game (quick test showed mid 40's), and as far as I am aware I am still on roughly the same FPS in game.

My query is should I be disabling CPB (it does seem to lower temps). Does it affect FPS drastically in games. ??
Also, why is there no PBO option in my BIOS, as I wanted to check and see if PBO was enabled or not.
Thanks

Hi, my BIOS version is F11D dated 11/13/2020.
I have never updated BIOS.
Check performance, disabling advanced features to lower temps may also lower performance. High 60/low 70 (sometime spiking to 78) is perfectly fine, CPU can go up to 90c without problems so you have great temperature margin. At 40c it's not going to be any faster or have better performance than at 80c +, for instance.
