No picture through HDMI

So I have a R9 290x with displayport, DVI and a HDMI cables hooked up but I was hoping to run a 10m HDMI cable from my motherboard to my TV.
One problem, there is no picture.

Please help.

Make sure the HDMI is hooked up from the R9 290X to the HDTV instead of from the MB to HDTV.

I can't do that. All of my ports are being used. My brother however has the setup I'm looking for but is unsure how he achieved it. He has a different GPU but uses the same connections as me (Displaport, DVI, HDMI) and still runs a 10m HDMI cable to his projector.

What ports do you have that are not in use? As mentioned, they have to be on the GPU. You might need a converter to get it to work. Your motherboard connection is not an option.

My only unused port on my GPU is a DVI port. I could buy an adapter but my brother seems to run his off his mobo just fine?

You can use the mobo if you use your IGP, but if you have a discrete card, you don't get to use the mobo's connection. There may even be some mobo's that support the IGP at the desktop, and switches to the discrete in games and some exceptions may allow the connection at all times, but only as a 2ndary monitor. Clearly your system is not setup to handle it, or it would work as an extended display.
