I recently bought a gigabyte GeForce gtx 960 graphics card. I placed it in the PCI slot and plugged in my 6 pin power cable to the top of the graphics card. When I plug my monitor into the graphics card to install the drivers no image arrives on my screen. I'm aware it may not be loading it due to the some of my settings on my bios. But no guides will help me with sorting it out on my asus uefi bios page. I really needed to know fast as to whether it's my power supply that's at fault, my graphics cars, or my bios settings. Please help !!!

Solution
OK, so plugging your monitor back into the VGA port on the motherboard gets you back up and running yes?

If the card is seated OK then you're in your PCI-E slot (usually its the top or upper most slot on the mobo nearest to the CPU)

I'm at work so can't open the screenshots but will look when I'm at home.

If you can find out what model your ASUS mobo is then that would be really useful, as google will give you access to the manual via the ASUS website.

Let us know on the points above.
What usually works for most uefi pc's:

Put the bios into "legacy+uefi" mode, enable CSM (compatibility support module), set 'graphics to initialize first' to pcie or peg. {If legacy+uefi mode doesnt work then try 'legacy' only mode}
save, exit, powerdown. plug video cable into the new GPU and power back up.

I'm assuming you get no display at all upon boot up, which means you will not see your BIOS settings. If this is the case you need to re-install your old GPU, boot into BIOS and confirm the suggestions above.

Also you say PCI slot but please confirm that you meant PCI-E as the two are different slot types (and your GPU should not fit in a PCI slot!!!)

EDIT* Given your CPU has onboard graphics I suspect the BIOS is defaulting to this so you will definitely need to confirm the BIOS setting for pointing the system at your GPU in the PCI-E slot.

I didn't have a GPU in beforehand i've only ever had dedicated graphics.

I mean PCI-E i think (im really new with this lingo so bare with me) The card sits in perfectly and fans etc are rotating so i assume its in correctly.

Its the BIOS which i'm having trouble with nobody seems to know how to work the bios i am on. Below are two links two screen shots (Gyazo's) of what i look at on my Bios. If you can direct me to an area where i can alter said settings i would be most greatful:

(once i click on advanced mode i have menus like this https://gyazo.com/7ed049f28e49fb06537c9e71526bccbe)

If you see my response to Sinistercr0c you'll find 2 links through gyazo showing my bios. I literally dont know how to do anything on there 🙁

Yeah so its defo a PCI-E then thats a good start.

I can't find out with any programs on my pc cause they just say "Product name" in the area that the motherboard name is usually. Hopefully the screenshots will help. Alternatively i can look on the board itself but i don't know what im looking for Cheers so far man

Found it, ASUS A88XM-A not having much luck with the guides and how to use the bios

I also am at work and cant see pics so everything I am referencing is from your motherbd's manual on Asus's support site beginning on page 2-6.

Press Delete to enter your Setup/Bios right after you turn it on, it will prompt you with a message at the bottom of the screen but be quick because it doesn't wait long before continuing to boot up.

Click ADVANCED at the top followed by NB CONFIGURATION on the left.
-Set PRIMARY VIDEO DEVICE to: PCIE/PCI

Now click BOOT at the top of the screen
- Disable FASTBOOT for now, you can re-enable it later after you get this beast working.
- Click CSM and make sure its set to: ENABLED (This is just below setup mode so scroll down)
- Below CSM is SECURE BOOT. Make a note of where it is because you may need to set it to OTHER OS.

Click EXIT at the top and then SAVE & EXIT

Let us know how it worked out.
