Hey guys.
I'm pretty stumped on this one. I have searched and seen a few other threads with similar issues but no real fix. Hopefully someone can shed some light on this!
PC Specs:
Zotac X58sli-a-e Motherboard
I7 920 @ 2.67Ghz (No OC)
Corsair P128 SSD running tonymacx86's Dual Boot Windows 7/OSX
Windows 7 on Samsung HD500
Storage on WD 1TB Green Drive
Symptoms:
System will not post after "Save and Exit" or F10 is confirmed in BIOS. On Reboot, 80H Post code gets stuck at "13" Which is SMM Initialization. CMOS Jumper reset, Battery CMOS reset, and Long (24 hr) CMOS Jumper reset all allow the machine to boot perfectly fine with default BIOS settings. The problem is that I need to run my sata controllers in AHCI. Even if I enter BIOS and do not change ANY settings (just hit save and exit) the machine will hang up on 80H 13 during reboot infinitely until I reset CMOS.
Peculiarities:
This machine has been stable like this for at least two years. I took my CPU out to help troubleshoot a friend's CPU long ago and ran into this issue during re-installation. After a few CMOS resets I tried re-flashing my BIOS with AFUWIN, and this fixed it. Just recently I decided to check my boot device priority on a whim and accidentally hit Save and Exit... Same problem arose, although now I cannot seem to find a fix.
Attempted Fixes:
Reset CMOS through Jumper, Battery, Long Jumper. Flash BIOS through AFUWin with latest revision from Zotac. Only change superficial settings in BIOS. Change nothing in BIOS, just save. I have NOT tried removing hardware components yet, as the system boots perfectly fine on default settings into windows, which I am on right now. I only need to change BIOS settings in order to use the OSX side of my system for my work.
Thanks so much in advance for any tips hints or tricks!
