First off, thank you so much in advance for taking the time to read this. These past 3 days have been a headache for me.
I just recently showed my novice computer building this past week when I tried upgrading too powerful of ram (2 x G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) F3-12800CL9S-4GBRL) into my older MOBO (ASUS M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 AM3 AMD 880G SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard) and instantly smelled something burning. Tried turning my PC on and got all fans on and no POST. Then I put in my old ram I just took out and still got no POST.
So, I figured my MOBO was fried and a PC store also confirmed this. I went full novice builder and bought a MOBO that isn't compatible with the new RAM so I have to return the new ram for compatible RAM. My old ram is compatible with the new board and still wont post. I also BENT MY CPU PINS reinstalling it into the new MOBO.
I have three questions for you guys: 1. Have you ever seen a MOBO fry because of "powerful" ram.
2. Would bent CPU pins cause a computer to not POST.
3. Is this new build going to work?
MOBO: GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 AM3+ AMD 990FX + SB950 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
RAM: G.SKILL 4GB F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL
PROCESSOR: AMD FX-8350 Black Edition Vishera 8-Core 4.0GHz
Thank you!
