No POST/Bios on fresh build/start

I just put everything together. I am waiting for my Graphics card and a brand new 500g Drive and Win 7 cd to come in the mail. However, i have a 160g harddrive with a fresh install of Win XP that i hooked up just to see if the pc worked.

Here is the issue, when i power on, i get the one beep, and i get the MSI loadup screen. after that i get another MSI screen that says press any button to boot. When i press any button, I get another screen to select boot source. The only thing that shows up is the CD/DVD drive. The HD does not show up at all. I have tried unplugging the HD and replugging in different sata plugs but nothing. When i try to boot from the cd drive nothing happens. Says there is nothign to boot from and press any button to go back. I have tried with/without the MSI boot cd in the drive. Is there something i am doing wrong or do I need to wait for the new harddrive, card and new Win7 OS?

If you go into the BIOS, does it show your HDD at all? If not, i'd say the drive is bad.

cant get into the bios. The pics i provided are the only thing that i can get into. Press anybutton to boot, then it goes straight to the screen where it only shows my cd drive. This happens with/without the HD hooked up.

You should be able to get into bios by pressing the delete key during post. Once in the bios look to see if you can see the hard drive.

Does your hard drive spin up at all?

what exactly do you mean POST. soonas it starts up? I get the one screen and then i get the press any button screen

I wont be able to check it out til later tonight but i appreciate the help your giving. This is my first build and when i look in the manual on the motherboard it shows it going straight to the BIOS.

Thanks for everyones help. The POST was actually the Logo screen for MSI. the default setting was to show that instead of the actual POST settings. Everything is running great.
