Started the following build the other day:

Gigabyte GA-170XP SLI motherboard
Intel i7-7770k
32GB (2x16gb) GSkill Ripjaws V
Corsair H100i
EVGA SuperNOVA 850W P2 80+ platinum PSU
EVGA GTX 1070 8GB

Anyways... When I start the system, a solid yellow/orange LED comes from the motherboard and all of the fans spin. However I do not have any display. The system stays powered (not cycling), RAM is connected (1 stick not both). I've been trying to solve this problem for hours now and can't find any solution. I've tried connecting to both onboard and GPU both with no avail. I am sure that the display works because I can hook it up to my laptop fine. I'm out of ideas, can someone help?

isn't that a kaby lake cpu? this is a new build ? if so.. you need to flash the bios to make a z170 motherboard work out of the box with a kaby lake cpu. your options are use a skylake cpu from a friend and update the bios, take it to a pc repair store and have them update the bios for a fee or return the motherboard and get a z270 motherboard .

there needs to a be a sticky about this! i seem to answer this question everytime i log in! it's obviously not being made clear enough by retailers either . it must be gutting to get a new build and then run into this problem/issue that as a new builder you're totally unaware of!

Yeah that's the solution. I ended up calling Gigabyte customer service and they said that I needed to flash the bios or get a z270. On their website they list it as compatible with kaby lake processors, what they don't say is you need to update it first. Thank you all for the help.
