Hi All,
I would appreciate anyone's suggestions for identifying a problem on my PC. My PC was a M2R32-MVP, Athlon 6400, 3870x2, OCZ GameXStream 1010w PSU. Worked well for 18 + months (only item changes was the 3870x2 from a 1800xt) all of a sudden one morning no post?. Events then went as follows;

1. Checked all connections, still no post
2. Removed all connections (except graphics, cpu + memory) still no post
3. Reseated CPU, removed all bar one memory slot, still no post.
4. Bought the same model motherboard, refitted all, still no post.
5. Took all out the case, sat on a piece of card swapping between original mobo and replacement mobo, still no post (changing memory slots etc)
5a. Bought new 3.0 Phenom 2 Quad AM2+ CPU and fitted it, no post.
6. Bought a new 800w PSU from PC World (I was desperate at this point, 800w was the highest they had (£135!!))
7. Got back plugged all in, still no post!
8. Fiddled with connectors of graphics card, etc, and then eventually POST! (on new PSU)
9. To prove it was the PSU, plugged all back into old PSU and it posted!?!?!
10. Put back into case with original PSU, no post
11. Removed and place on piece of card, posted!
12. Checked for shorts on case, etc, none, put original PSU and mobo back in case (not screwed in, no other connections), posts!
13. Added each connection in turn and each screw in turn and check if posts after each amendment, and yes posts fine!
14. All back together with original PSU, all fine!
15. Stand unit up (its a full tower), switch on no post!?!?
16. Remove, lay down etc etc, no post.
17. Swap graphics card back to XT1800, no post.

I am well stumped, also I've returned the replacement PCWorld PSU as I did have the unit working.
Any suggestions of where to proceed?, surely if the 12v (or something) was broken on the PSU then it wouldn't have worked at some point in the middle?, Help please, suggestions!! Multimeter the PSU??!?!

PS. By no post i mean the PC comes on (fans start spinning, CPU fan spins slowly) but no beeps or video output.

Ta

Obviously, you have some sort of mechanical problem. Do all the standoff posts in the case match all the motherboard holes?

The PC works and doesn't work with both PSU's, so it's not a power problem.

About the only major you have not replaced is the case.
