Here is my problem:
I have a custom built computer (Puget Systems) that is about 3 years old. Came with Intel 240 GB SSD, intel i7 processor, 16 GB RAM, Win 7/64 Pro. OS kept up to date with Windows Update. Working fine until recently when suddenly the computer wouldn't boot. No POST displays on the screen, nothing else displays on the screen, it is completely blank. Can't get into the BIOS by pressing Delete key repeatedly.
Here is what I have done to try to resolve the problem:
1) Replaced CMOS battery - no help
2) Restored recent system image - still same problem
3) Connected SSD to a different SATA connecter - no help
4) Took out the SSD, hooked up to another computer, files on disk can be read fine
5) Secure erase SSD, restore a backup system image several that is several months older. Computer works perfectly for a few days to a week, then same problem recurs. Files on disk can be read, but have to disconnect SSD in order to boot the system (from CD)
6) Bought a new SSD, restored older backup system image, boots fine and works fine for a few days, then problem recurs. Files on disk can be read, but have to disconnect SSD in order to boot the system (from CD)
7) Microsoft Security Essentials was installed from the beginning and kept up to date, shouldn't have any viruses (will scan the SSD from another computer tomorrow to make sure)
I have a lot of programs installed with activations, a fresh install of the OS would be a royal pain (and may not fix the problem, since I don't know what it is).
Any thoughts about how to proceed? I am completely stumped.
