No POST with new R5 1600 build, any advice appreciated

I have just finished upgrading my PC, and these are my current specs:

Ryzen 5 1600
Asus Prime B350 PLUS
1x8gb DDR4 2133 (samsung M393A1G40DB0)
Generic tower cooler
Radeon HD7850
sandisk 120gb SSD (not currently connected)
Corsair CX500 power supply

When I try to power it on, all I get is all the fans spinning up, nothing else. No display, no post beeps (I do have a motherboard speaker connected) etc.

Does anyone have any ideas what the problem could be? I have the same power supply and graphics card from my old system so I know that they are both good. My current best guess is incompatible RAM because mine isn't listed on the ASUS website as being compatible, but I'm thinking I'd get post beeps if that was the problem. I would try swapping it out but I have no other DDR4 RAM.

Does the CPU fan spin up?

You have connected the CPU and motherboard power cables, check that they are properly seated.

Take your cpu out and check for bent pins.

make sure the 8 pin eps cable has the right connector plugged in. make sure the mb not shorting out to the mb tray.

Yes, the CPU fan spins up (tried multiple different ones anyway)

Yes, 100% sure the GPU works (but have also tried others just in case)

What's the 8 pin eps connector?

you need to connect two power cables to the motherboard. The big 24 pin one, and an 8 pin one up near the cpu. Note it is different to a PCI-E power cable, it will be labeled CPU or EATX.

Hi, I'm using a DVI to VGA adapter in the GPU, but have tried all ports in mobo and GPU

there your issue in your last post. you need a acvtive vga adaptor. the wrong adaptor will block the video signal to the monitor. if you have a tv with hdmi port try using a hdmi to dvi cable. or find a monitor with dvi input.

Ah thanks I'll try that later. I have already tried active HDMI to VGA with a VGA monitor and no luck there but will try with a TV

Update: It was a faulty stick of RAM, will return it and get a replacement
