First time fumbling with serious BIOS configs. So here's what happened:
i have an old P4 HT prescott 3.0Ghz on a super old Gigabyte board. I tried playing with bios to OC it. I found a "CPU Frequency" option there (inside the Power/Frequency Settings) which is at 100 when i first saw it. The tooltip said that its range is from 100 to 355 (integers) I guess that this is the FSB(?) of the proc. I tried 200 then after running CPU-Z, my proc increased from 3.00->3.07 GHz. I don't know why it's that small, so I tried 355. After hitting save and exit in bios, it won't boot up. No beeps and no POST. Just black screen and rotating fans. Did I kill my processor? or is there anyway to fix this? I'm quite worried that since my proc is old, it doesn't have safety measures against these kind of scenarios. Thanks in advance!
