Question No power in my pc after spark?

I turned on my computer this morning and it was running fine and out of nowhere It turns off and I see a spark by the PSU. I unplug it and open the case. Don’t smell any burning but I noticed somehow some soda got spilled on the computer. No sign of where the spark came from but I’m sure the soda has to do with it. Now there is no power and it won’t turn on. At first it would turn on for a couple seconds and light up and the fans would run and then die quick. Now nothing happens when I press the power button. But the light on the motherboard that lets me know it’s plugged in is still on. I’ve tried cleaning the spill but I’m scared to take the parts out. The computer is 3 months old and I really need to fix it. Anybody know what I have to do?

Do you have access to a known good PSU? If so plug that in and see if things work, if they don't then your motherboard and maybe other components got fried when this happened. Sparks inside a PC are NEVER a good thing as that means something shorted.

Where exactly did the soda go?
Most likely I think you are looking at a MB or a PSU.

I have my old one in my old desktop so I guess I could try that. Will update soon

How old is the old desktop? There could be issues with a modern system using a very old PSU.

3 or 4 years old. It’s 250w I think but it should be good to just run for a few seconds right?

It may not be compatible.

Are these both prebuilt systems?

First one was a cheap 500 dollar prebuilt. Current one is custom built with a low end i7 and a decent gpu. And the old MB is asus but current one is an intel board

Update: my friend said he will let me have his spare power supply so I will see if it works tomorrow.

Don't mess with junk power supplies trying to power a gaming system, you are likely to cause more damage to the system like the motherboard or video card if they don't get stable power.

What are the full system specs? Are you looking at doing gaming and if so what resolution and monitor refresh rate?
