[SOLVED] No power on Radeon RX 5700 XT

Hi people,

I've got some trouble with this GPU:

Asrock Radeon RX 5700 XT Challenger D 8G OC

Just arrived today, but it won't turn on. I've inserted the 2 x 8 pin connectors (actually 6+2 in each case), but there's no power on whatsoever. When the machine boots it says out of range and changes automatically between the different channels to no avail.

What would be the best approach to this problem? How likely is it to receive a defect GPU? Maybe the 2 x 8 pin cable comes from 6 pin output. Could that cause the trouble?
Best regards

Solution
I solved it... So silly of me, seriously. You know what the problem was? The HDMI-cable. Worked perfectly on my old card, didn't work on my new card. I don't get it, I really don't get it. I changed nothing else.
Here you go :)

Kingston A2000 - 500GB - PCI Express 3.0 x4 (NVMe) - M.2 Card
AMD Ryzen 5 3600X / 3.8 GHz Processor - AM4
Cooler Master Hyper TX3 EVO 92mm
NZXT H series H510 - ATX
ASUS PRIME B450M-K - micro-ATX - Socket AM4 - AMD B450
CORSAIR RMx Series RM650x - 650W
DDR4-3200 16 GB G.Skill

My current GPU (RX 570) works just fine.

Hey COLGeek mod guru do you think he can try a different PCIe slot? Also as you said we need more info on mobo CPU and RAM and all that jazz.👌💯
Maybe. Depends on what we are working with. One thing is to ensure that the motherboard is compatible and that both the 24-pin and 4 and/or 8 pin power connectors (from the PSU) are firmly attached to the motherboard.

If the power connectors are properly attached to the motherboard (and PCIe power connected properly to the GPU), then I suspect a defective GPU.

Just to verify, I assume you have your display connected directly to the GPU and not one of the video ports attached to your motherboard.
Yeah, I have. Sigh. It can't have anything to do with the cable? I mean in terms of output atm maybe only be a 6 pin (I actually don't now that, right now I only see the 2 x 8 pin adapters (but not where they come from, the PSU is hidden). My current card works though, so there's that.

This is not shocking to me, as I have heard many AMD cards giving issues like the one you have. This is why some people just go Intel + nVidia. Just make sure the cables are properly connected to video card. If you still don't get a post then I would consider a RMA or a return and grab a 2060 or something and I promise youll be fine.👽👀💯🎗🤷‍♀️

This is not true regarding AMD GPUs, any more than any other brand.

A RMA is in order, it would seem. And a 2060 is certainly an option, but an Nvidia solution is not the only solution.

Sure, the cable could be an issue, but if connected properly to a functioning PSU then that is likely not the issue. This really sounds like a defective GPU.
