This is a cobbled together type of computer so anything could be at fault, when you push the power button nothing happens no LEDs or fan spin and the same is true directly jumping the motherboard with a screwdriver. I've tried with 2 power supplys both of which passed the "paperclip test" and moved the RAM module to all slots. This system was working in the past but it's been a few months since I tried to start it. I know the motherboard is getting power because when i plug in my phone it charges. What do I need to test and or replace I want to keep costs as low as possible.
Specs : 6th gen pentium, Sniper B7 motherboard, HP generic PSU, 120GB Team M.2 SSD, 4GB Team Elite DDR4

Solution
Make certain that you haven't mistaken the "reset" switch pin set, in the front panel header, for the "power" switch pin set; and that all motherboard PSU connectors are correctly placed and firmly seated.

You can try swapping the reset switch connection and attempting to power-up the system by pressing the reset switch, just in case you have an issue with the power switch or it's connections--though it sounds like you've already by-passed that with the screwdriver shorting attempt.

If everything is fine in that area, then you're probably looking at an issue with the motherboard, itself.

No luck with the reset switch and I reseated all the power cables. Think I'm just going to have to bite the bullet and buy a new mobo this one had a good run of 6 years.

My condolences upon the loss of a good friend.

May I recommend that you make friends with an MSI MB on the next go-around?

Mine have seemed to last forever. Of the MBs that I have retired from primary desktop duty, the last 4 are still going strong, and two of those are more than 10 years old, by now.
