No screws to support the gpu, what should I do?

A couple month ago I got a computer for like £100 or something. It was decent, had a okay cpu, okay motherboard, needed a new power supply but I was intending on just upgrading it. The only thing it really needed was some better fans, a gpu and a better power supply. Although (this is my first time upgrading by the way) I realised I had no screws to support the gpu I heard somewhere that it's supposed to come with the case so I'm wondering if I just need a new case or do the screws come with the graphics card? Thanks.

The screws should have been holding on the PCI slot cover you took off to install the GPU. Do you know the brand/model of the case?

in the mean time just borrow one of the screws for the side panels of the case, they are usually the same type.

Go to a hardware store, bring a screw with you, and pick up a box of 50 or something.

I don't have a GPU. The case is pretty cheap but it's enough for what I need. here's the link where I think the case is from -

What I mean is, right underneath the motherboard IO, there should be some pieces of metal that look something like this. They should be secured with some type of screw. Those are the screws you use to mount the graphics card.

That is true on higher end cases, cheaper ones have stamped metal that is a one time removal. And many cases have ones that snap in and don't require screws. Not sure on this case.

Regardless, they are standard screws, so you can get them practically anywhere. 12-32 screws with a length basically as short as possible.

Would motherboard thumbscrews work?

Never heard of motherboard thumb screws, typically used for case side panels, and coincidentially some retention brackets, so yes.

There are only two typical screw sizes in computers. Hard drives, SSDs, Motherboard, Case, Side Panel, Retention Bracket all use the 12-32. Optical drives, 3.5" floppy, M.2 slots now, and a few other odds and ends uses the M3 screws with the finer thread. Just an old standard no one is willing to change.
