No signal detected - philips 32PFL4907/F7 via HDMI

Hello, I am trying to use this TV as a second monitor and it won't work at all. I also have tried to use it as a lone monitor and it didn't work either. There is never a signal found on the TV and my PC software, Catalyst Control and Windows desktop utility, does not detect another monitor. I am running Windows 8 64-bit and an XFX HD 7950 with the latest beta drivers, though it also didn't work with the stable drivers. I've tested the cable and it seems fine. What do I do next? I don't easily have another monitor to test the card's HDMI output.

i have also updated the TV's firmware but that has yielded nothing.

i just got it to work with my mobo's HDMI output. could this mean my GPU's HDMI port is non-functional?
