Hi
I was recently playing balders gate when and suddenly my computer had crashed. I assume this as my screen went black and I couldn't hear anything. Mind you I've never had a performance issue with any games and have had my setup for 2 years now. I powered off my pc and when I tried powering it back on, I was getting the no display message on my monitor.
What I have tried:
Restarting pc
Restarting pc after disconnecting and reconnecting power cables
Reseating ram (including switching them around and having one of each connected)
Resetting the CMOS
Checking bios, and making sure that the graphics card was being used as the main graphics
Unplugging and replugging HDMI cable
Reseating the gpu

What I had in mind was to boot up the computer using the motherboard and then seeing if I could possibly update the gpu drivers from there.
What I discovered is that when the gpu is connected and not receiving power from the psu, then computer boots up with MB. Though when I connect the power cables to the gpu, the computer does not start up with MB. I had already made sure to check in the BIOS that the MB was the main graphics

One of my friends does have a spare gpu that I could use as a possible replacement

Any possible ideas that I haven't tried? Is the pc crashing an indicator that the gpu or psu went bad? Thanks
