Hi guys

First of all the specs:
i7-770K @4.2GHz
Corsair Vengance LPZ DDR4 32GB
Asus ROG Strix Z270F Gaming
Asus ROG Strix GTX 1080 A8GB
Corsair AX1200i 1200W

The problem: I installed a brand new Asus ROG Strix GTX 1080 A-8GB, and I booted the system without any problems. It ran for around an hour. Then the screen went black with no signal (I for a start thought it hipernated). The GPU is connected to my monitor with a Display-Port cable.

What I have tried so far:
- I have updated to the latest BIOS (The card ran on the factory installed BIOS, so I can't imagine it being the real problem)
- I have uninstalling all driver software connected to the GPU (with DDU) and then reinstalling the latest driver from nVidia Game REady (this failed, because it couldn't detect any GPU-hardware)
- I have tried connedting the GPU with different monitors using different cables (both Display Port and HDMI cables)
- The Display Port on the motherboard produces a perfect

The RGB LED on the GPU lights up, so I have run out of ideas.

Is the card fried or am I missing something?

Best regards

It sounds like you tested the monitor already, but I would check it with another system just to make sure. Move the card to a different PCI slot if that fails, like stated above from faalin. Check it in another system if possible. Otherwise I would say the GPU is DOA.

Hi guys

Thanks for the quick answers. I ended up handing it back to the supplier, since it wasn't very old and will get a new one tomorrow. I hope that will fix the problem, otherwise I'll get back to you.
