Question No signal from monitor upgrading from windows 7 to 10

Hey guys I'm getting no signal from my monitor trying to upgrade windows 7 to 10. It downloads, installs and reboots, but upon startup monitor just blanks out into no signal. I have a pretty old system with a 5770 gpu, is this the issue? Do I need to update drivers or something before installing windows 10? The only thing I can do is turn off and on my power supply and reboot it. It then reverts back to windows 7 since update failed. Please help!

try using another display.
connect an HDMI TV or something and see if it still loses signal.

I have a pretty old system with a 5770 gpu

Oh sorry. I forgot the motherboard model but here's what my computer tells me:
Amd Phenom II X4 955
12 gb ram
64 bit
windows 7 ultimate service pack 1

I also tried another hdmi monitor, still the same issue. No signal.

Is there any possibility of an incompatibility with my cpu/motherboard with windows 10? I think perhaps my qpu is just way too old? What if I just buy a better qpu?
