No signal in monitor after turning on the pc though the keyboard light turns on and off after a while

This problem started last week. When I turn on the pc the mobo and other cpu accessories light up. The keyboard and mouse also lights up. But the keyboard light dies after a few seconds and comes on again. As if the pc is failing to boot. I should also inform that I have open up and cleaned my pc parts few times before this incident. But it worked fine then. Also the monitor to gpu connector is damaged but works alright, I think. I am using this pc for over a year but its the first I faced this problem. My pc specs are
Mobo- Asus Z170 Pro gaming
Processor- I7 6700k
Ram- Gskill ripjaws v 8 gb 2400Mhz
Psu- Thermaltake smart se 730 W
Gpu- Sapphire R9 390 8GB
I will be forever grateful if someone can point out the problem. I really spent a fortune on this pc.

I's start with that damaged connector, what kind of connector is it? Is it the connection on the GPU or on the cord to the monitor (or some adapter possibly)?
Have you tried removing the GPU and connecting the monitor the motherboard?
