no signal message

Hello any help you can give me would be great!!
I just put to gether a new system,when powered up the fans all run lights on dvd player,fan on vid card is running but monitor says "no signal"evga tech support says it may br motherboard and asked if there were beeps there wasn't.so he said it the vid card or motherboard.
1)any idea what I need to do to diagnose which one may be bad?I don't have a second vid card to try
the system is tsunami dream case,coolamax 600w p/s,c2d e6600,4g corsair xms 6400,evga 8800gtx,gigabyte ga-965p-ds3 v.3.3

my plug from ps wasn't split it looked loke 2 8 plugs cord not 8 into 2x4,the 2x4 wasn't split at the factory,i pulled it apart and hooked it up and now it's alive
