Question "No Signal" on my Monitor powered by a windows 7 laptop

I've been trying to get my old windows 7 laptop to display its screen on an External 32" Monitor (LG 32ML600M) and it keeps on displaying a black screen with a text saying "no signal". I have another Windows 10 laptop that I've tried plugging into the monitor which worked perfectly fine through hdmi cable, so it's highly proabable that this problem resides within my old windows 7 laptop. My windows 7 laptop unfortunately doesn't have an hdmi port but only a vga port, so bought a cable converter to solve the issue which it did, but it just doesn't display the output on the monitor.

If pc specifications are needed here they are:

Old Windows 7 Laptop:
Intel Core 2 Duo T5250 @1.5Ghz
2GB RAM

WIndows10 Laptop: (Works fine)
i3 6006u
4GB RAM

Any Help appreciated.
