No signal to monitor from Xbox

Do you know why my Samsung monitor is not getting full signal through the splitter? ( It's getting the signal but it's not displaying the whole screen. ) I use a DVI to Hdmi to connect to my xbox. When I plug the Xbox straight to the monitor it works fine, but when I try using the splitter only the tv gets full signal and the monitor gets half of the image and statics.
Can you help ?

Maybe a bad dvi to hdmi convertor. Do you have another HDMI device you can test.

Do you mean to try connecting to a straight hdmi tv or monitor without using dvi to hdmi converter? Or use 2 tv and use the same dvi to hdmi converter on one and straight hdmi on the the other one ?

Something. You need to use a bit of logic and eliminate something. There is an XBox, a monitor, a dvi-hdmi adapter, and a hdmi cable. Something in there has to not be working right.

But the problem is not connecting to the monitor, it is when I try to use my TV and MONITOR with a hdmi splitter.
Or when I try recording through a capture card on the monitor.
If I connect the Xbox straight to the monitor it works fine, the problem is when I try splitting the signal I guess.
I don't know if it's the dvi that can't handle the signal being split or if the cables are to long or if it's the monitor.
