No signal to monitor

This is my first build. it boots up, the fans spin, lights turn on and everything, but no signal to the monitor. ive tried so many suggestions online, but i cant quite find a solution.

if it helps, my board has no onboard video, and the card has two small leds, but only one lights up green. im not sure what that means.

i read that its possible i need to update my bios on the board to use the card, but i cant do that because there is no onboard video. i thought about buying a pci-e 2.0 card to see if i could get a signal in order to update the bios, but i would rather ask for suggestions before spending money.

again this is my first go at building a pc, so any help is appreciated.

build:

cooler master 430 elite case
msi 970a-g43 mobo
amd fx-6300 cpu
asus radeon hd 7770 2gb gpu
corsair cx430 psu
seagate barricuda 1tb hdd
team elite 1x8gb ram

Take out all RAM (You will get bottlenecked by that single-channel) and then start. Tell me if you hear 3 beeps.

first time help: check that the motherboard is sitting on top of the standoffs. if it not it can ground out. also check that the rear io shield not grounding out the mb. on the mb make sure the 24 pin power and the 8 or 4 pin power on the outside edge of the motherboard is plugged in. on gpu there can be one or two power plugs. if your has two 6 pin power on the top you need to plug them both in to get the video card to power on.
