Greetings. My friend recently visited me from out of state. He brought his computer along with him onto an airplane and through air port security. When he arrived, his computer worked fine with no issues. He left a month later and took a flight back to his state. However, when he got home, he complained that his computer was no longer working. Whenever he tried to turn on the computer, it was not sending a signal to the monitor.

After troubleshooting with him, I told him to:

  • -Take out his GPU and plug the monitor to the motherboard's VGA; didn't work.

-Reset the BIOS by taking out the MB battery for a few second and try again with the motherboard VGA; didn't work.

    -Reseat the CPU; didn't work.

Ultimately, I advised him to replace his motherboard since that seemed to be the problem. He received it today and fully rebuilt his PC. After he got it connected, he tried putting the VGA into the GPU then the new Motherboard; did not work for either.

Since I have ran out of ideas on what the problem might be, I need help desperately.

Here are his specifications:

  • -AMD FX-4300 3.8GHz Quad-Core Processor
-Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 Micro ATX AM3+ Motherboard
    -G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
    -G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
-Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
-PowerColor Radeon HD 6450 1GB Video Card
-NZXT Source 210 Window ATX Mid Tower Case
    -LG GH24NSB0 DVD/CD Writer
    -TP-Link TL-WDN4800 802.11a/b/g/n PCI-Express x1 Wi-Fi Adapter

Is the ram a 2 x 4gb kit or individual sticks?

What power supply?

If it's powering up, he should try the connections - monitor, monitor signal cable and graphics card (monitor cable, pcie slot, power supply)

If they are OK he should then try replacing them one at a time.
