No signal what's going on?

Hey guys, I just brought my new computer. I connect it, turn it on, then connect my hdmi cord from my pc to the monitor and it says no signal but when I take it out, it says "No cable detected". So I tried hooking my laptop up to my monitor it worked fine, what's wrong with my pc??

Hi, Make sure that you're connecting the monitor to the graphics card, and not to the motherboard.
