For the purpose of clarity, here are my specs:

CPU: i5 2320 3.0GHz
RAM: 8GB DDR3
Motherboard: Foxconn with 1155 socket, chipset Intel H61MXL-K
HDD: 2TB
PSU: EVGA Bronze 600w

Old GPU: Nvidia/EVGA 550 ti 2GB
New GPU: AMD/MSI rx 470 4GB

My old GPU worked fine for many years, and only recently did I decide to go hardcore on PC gaming and upgrade my GPU. Knowing I had enough power to run it, I decided on a 470, installed it all correctly with a 6-pin connector, turned on the PC. It turns on and after a few seconds it shuts off, then comes back on, but there is no signal on my monitor at all. I checked the GPU and the LED was lighting up but no signal. I tried booting my PC with my old card again, it worked fine, I then tried without a card at all using integrated graphics, that also worked perfectly fine. So I assumed it was a faulty DOA card and returned it for a refund.

I am currently looking for a new GPU and what bugs me is that this could be an issue with my hardware, but I am honestly not sure what it could be. I've been told it could be an outdated BIOS because mine dates back to 2012, but I already have that installed. Before I go and buy a new GPU I want to make sure it will actually work, so does anybody have any suggestions as to why the monitor showed no signal? (I was using DVI, I used HDMI just to see if it was the display port but got the same issue).

may not support these latest cards ? check to see if your board has a bios update that gives compatibility to the latest cards

these newer card need a full supported uefi bios some off brand like foxcon may not give that

your latest and only bios was from 2012 ?

maybe wrong and I hope so but that's where I see this going you maybe stuck with a older card series like NVidia 700 cards or lower maybe a AMD r9 200 series 300 at risk best ?

this was a issue with intel 6 series and started with like gtx 900 cards not working in them unless they got correct bios support for them from the manufacture [look up z68 gtx 970 black screen or any thing like that and see what I mean]
