Booted up as usual Friday morning - blankscreen - checked monitor and cable - initially suspected graphics card - thought to change card with spare computer but different board with built in video. I need to access data on 1Tb hard drive so took that from faulty computer and fitted it in spare. - No signal - So now have two computers with the same fault - only common factor the now suspect hard drive. Neither computer will produce signal even with the hard drive removed.

Can a faulty drive cause such damage? I now suspect damage to PSUs, motherboards, or both. How to tell? The D drive seems to be working, no noise, just a gentle vibration to the touch. Main computer seems to go through the normal boot up sequence - bleeps after 65 seconds to indicate successful boot up but no picture. The spare will, very occasionally about 1 in 30 attempts, show the start up and BIOS screen, thus proving the integrety of the monitor and cable, but attempts to edit it result in it reverting to a blank screen
