"No signed device drivers were found." - new windows 7 install

Hey guys,

I just bought a new system and built it myself and was pleasantly surprised to see that it started up ok..now im trying to install windows 7 64-bit from a DVD and I get this message:

"No signed device drivers wre found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct dirvers, and then click OK."

I went to ASUS's website and dl'd my HDD's driver and put it on a USB. The installation recognized it and I assume used it but I still have this issue. Basically when I go to select were I want to install windows, there's nothing there.

I don't have a 4GB USB and was hoping I could fix this w/o one - I do have a phone with like 10GB storage but I think you have to wipe everything to install windows from a USB.....

BTW I tried booting from the DVD and installing chipset drivers but those didn't work either

are you using the grey or the blue sata ports?

I'm using both blue ones - there's only 1 grey one

try the hard drive on the grey sata port just to see what happens

Did you enter the BIOS and make sure the controller is enabled, the drives are showing up, and you have a boot order assigned?
Win 7 needs needs nothing for your SATA drives, it has all the drivers it needs.

I didn't do those things and I don't know how, well maybe except the boot order - where do I go to change the controller

If the drives are showing up and you can set the boot order, the controller is working.

Yah I remember being able to edit the boot order - there are 2 sets of cables plugged into the SATA ports - 1 set is black heads with black wires and the other set is black heads with red wires. Is this correct?

If the drives are showing up and you can set the boot order, the controller is working.

THe drives aren't showing up though that's the problem

If you can't load the SATA device drivers because they are unsigned, then a work around would be to enter the BIOS and select IDE mode for your SATA controller. This is not quite as good as loading the SATA driver as you will lose NCQ (Native Command Queuing) but you will not notice the difference.

Nope that didn't work either: still when I go to Custom Install and it brings up the list of "Where do you want to Install Windows?" there's nothing there:

"No drives were found. Click Load Driver to provide a mass storage driver for installation."

Is it possible I've plugged in the HDD incorrectly?

Wow....so I go to check if the HDD is plugged in and... its not lol - currently installing windows 7
