I will preface this by saying that I am very new to this. Building my previous PC 10 years ago was fun and easy so I thought I would try again with my upgrade. Still, that old build is the only other build I have done.

Specs:
CPU cooler
be quiet! Dark Rock PRO
Motherboard
GIGABYTE Z790 UD AX Bundkort - Intel Z790
RAM
Corsair Vengeance DDR5-5600 BK C36 DC - 32GB
HDD
Seagate BarraCuda 3.5" ST4000DM004 Harddisk - 4 TB
SSD
Samsung 980 PRO Heatsink SSD PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 - 2GB
Case
be quiet! Dark Base 900
CPU
Intel Core i5-13600K Raptor Lake
GPU
PowerColor Radeon RX 6800 XT Red Dragon - 16GB GDD
Case
be quiet! System Power 10 850W

I have tried:
  • Going through the sticky on this forum for this issue
  • Swapping cables and outlets (and making sure PSU is on the "I" position)
  • Securing and resecuring power cables for components
  • Ensuring CPU fan is plugged in
  • Building the PC outside case on a carboard box
  • Shorting the power switch pins (and triple checking the front panel connectors)
  • Resetting CMOS
  • Swapping RAM from A2-B2 to A1-B1 as well as just trying one and zero sticks of RAM (I have only tried the same sticks - I don't other compatible sticks)
  • I swapped the power supply with that of my old system - and my old system boots up with new PSU without issue
Still there is absolutely no signs of life in my new build. No beeps or lights anywhere. Sometimes when clicking the power button on the case I can hear a faint click from the PSU but that's it.

It seems more likely that it won't turn on due to my incompetence rather than faulty components. Bearing in mind that I have neither a lot of equipment or experience - what would you recommend? Buy a new motherboard or RAM and test them out? Should I swallow my pride and go to a PC repair shop?

Thank you for any help.

Hi man,
Thanks for the input.

I tried having both the HDD and GPU disconnected and still no signs of life on either monitor or the motherboard itself.

Slight update: There are photos in the post and the GPU is actually 6950 XT.
