So i have a problem where when I try to play audio, no sound comes out.
I have tried both front and rear ports for my headphones and still nothing is coming out, I've checked to see if the headphones work in other devices and they do, I also tried my speakers and their not working. Audio is defiantly playing as i can see the little audio thing on the top of a tab in chrome.
I tried playing somthing through Windows Media Player and it gave me an error message saying "Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file."
It does this for all files. I Have tried restarting and that does not work.
Is this fixable or will i need a new sound card?

Full Asus PC with Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit operating system
Intel i7 2600k
8 GB Ram
3 x 500 GB Hard Disk
Asus P8P67 motherboard
Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatal1ty edition sound card (includes front face plate with Midi, spdif, optical, mic & speaker and aux input / output sockets)
Asus ATI Radeon 5700 Series graphics card
Asus quiettrack DVD dual layer burner
PC has built in Bluetooth connectivity and variable speed cooling fans
Front ports:
1 x e-sata
2 x USB 2
Mic and speaker connections
Rear ports:
