No sound from motherboard

There is no sound on my PC. I just built it. My motherboard is a MSI X470 atx gaming and i have microsoft 10 pro. When ever i click the red x over the sound icon I am prompted with this message.

NVIDIA Output - NVIDIA High definition Audio
the connector for this device is located in the HDMI connector.

this message is displayed 4 times. I've tried downloading the drivers from the manufature website but nothing has worked. Please help

Go to Control Panel/Sound and make sure the proper playback device is set to default. Sounds like your system is trying to use your GPU's HDMI port as the audio device. I assume you have speakers connected to the speaker ports on the motherboard (rear panel) and the proper drivers installed.
